In order to further facilitate cross-border travel, China has decided to apply the unilateral visa waiver policy to several EU Member States on a trial basis. Under this decision, the visa waiver will be extended to holders of ordinary passports from six countries – France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and France.
From December 1, 2023 to November 30, 2024, ordinary passport holders from the above six countries will be able to enter China visa-free for business, tourism, family and friends visits and transit for up to 15 days, according to the online announcement.
Persons from the six countries who do not meet the requirements for visa exemption will still need to obtain a visa before travelling to China, according to the Chinese Foreign Ministry statement.
