Polish police are investigating an incident in which a load of rapeseed from Ukraine spilled onto the tracks near the border crossing at Dorohusk in Poland on Friday, Reuters reports. Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said the cargo had been damaged by unknown persons and that those responsible should be found.
Ewa Czyz, a press spokeswoman for the Chelm police, confirmed to Reuters that police were investigating the incident, she said, but gave no further details.
Reuters recalls that farmers across Europe are protesting against the restrictions imposed on them by the European Union’s climate change measures, rising costs and what they say is unfair competition from foreign crops, particularly from Ukraine.
Polish farmers have stepped up their protests this week by blocking almost all transport links with Ukraine. Polish media also showed footage of farmers blocking the road to Pyrzowice airport in southern Poland.
