At the kind invitation of the European Parliament to the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement, several meetings and dialogue sessions were held yesterday, Wednesday, November 8, 2023, in the European capital, Brussels, bringing together the President of the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement, Dr. Suleiman Sandal Haggar, and his accompanying delegation, with a member of the European Parliament, MEP Pierrette Hersberger-Fofana in an open dialogue session on European Parliament Television.
he discussed the war taking place in Sudan and contributing to the possibility of stopping it, along with the necessity of civil force participation in the comprehensive political solution that does not exclude anyone except the National Congress regime.
The delegation also held a lengthy meeting with the East African Relations Officer, Mr. Christian Meth.
The meeting discussed the efforts to stop the war and return to the negotiating platform. The movement confirmed its support for the Jeddah platform and called on the European Parliament to advance the efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire in preparation for restoring the political process. In a separate meeting with the political advisor to Parliament, Mr. Ivan Botocharov.
The meeting discussed the humanitarian situation in Sudan and the difficult living conditions that the Sudanese people are going through, including the loss of the necessities of life, cases of displacement, refuge, and displacement resulting from the April 15 war, and how to deliver humanitarian aid.
At the end of his visit, he met with the Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement delegation, which included, in addition to the movement’s president, Professor Jibril Adam Bilal, Vice President of the movement, and Professor Al-Sadiq Youssef, Secretary of the Central Region, Vice-President of the Movement, and Dr. Abdul Hadi Siddiq Hashem. Secretary of External Relations of the Movement with the Honorary European Economic and Social Community President, Mr. Henri Malosse. The meeting touched on the need to continue the efforts of members of the European Parliament and international and regional partners to support Sudan in its current ordeal and to search for a solution to the Sudanese crisis.
On the other hand, the delegation participated in a press conference at the European Press Conference Club in the presence of the European Parliament Member, Ms. Pierrette Hersberger, who discussed the causes of the current crisis in Sudan, as well as the causes of the wars that have taken place since independence.
In this symposium, the movement presented its political vision of establishing the Second Republic on the ruins of the failed First Republic.
The movement also stressed in this symposium its firm position regarding stopping the war and restoring the democratic system.
